Last month #GreatBritain won the #DavisCup – the most prestigious team prize in #Tennis – for the first time in 79 years. #AndyMurray, arguably #Britain’s greatest ever player won all 8 of his “live” singles rubbers as well as three doubles with his brother #Jamie – an astonishing individual performance.
The moment Murray triumphed against #NicolasGoffin of #Belgium in the final’s last rubber there were wild celebrations, followed by tears, followed, just a few hours later, by bitter recrimination as the team courted controversy by speaking out against the way the game is run in the #UK.
#DavidLloyd certainly makes for a fascinating interview subject, and not just because of his views on the sport he has always loved. Lloyd has been just as vocal a critic of the Lawn Tennis Association as the #DavisCup team, albeit for far longer and throughout his retirement from the sport.
