#Bouchard off to the #BigApple second round for the first time since 2015, without dropping a set through four matches.
“It’s been great to get a lot of matches, that’s what I feel like I’ve needed recently,” Bouchard told #TSN following her sprightly win.
“It was a little trickier than my matches in qualies, but that’s to be expected, we’re in the main draw now. Every girl’s going to be tough and I’m just thrilled to be able to be in New York for a few more days.”
There were plenty of positives to take from her encounter with Tan, as Bouchard scarcely wobbled in the one-hour and 17-minute match, breaking her opponent on four of 10 opportunities, fending off the only two break points she faced, particularly efficient at the net — 22 out of 30 points there — and finishing it off with a slam-bang winner.
