#Tennis legend #MartinaNavratilova said at the #WTA Finals in #Singapore she was “baffled” by the fluctuating form of the game’s top women. At the same tournament, new WTA CEO #SteveSimon admitted it was difficult to deliver a “premium” product when the best players were not regularly featuring deep in the draws of the biggest events.

The WTA needs its top players to attain a consistently high level and take over the reins when its biggest superstar – #SerenaWilliams, who turns 35 this year – inevitably steps away from the game. Yet former world No.1 #TracyAustin believes that as it currently stands, only #MarSharapova could match the mentality that defined #Williams’ reign.
