It’s not often you see two of the biggest names in international sports working together on social media.
But The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have done exactly that.
The reason?
To celebrate the extraordinary sporting day that was Sunday 14 July, 2019, which saw both the Wimbledon’s men’s final between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic and the Men’s Cricket World Cup at Lord’s come to a close.
Both events, staged within eight miles of each other in the British capital, reached their conclusions at about the same time, captivating huge crowds inside the All England Club and at Lord’s and global television audiences around the world.
While England saw off New Zealand in a first ever ‘super over’ finish at Lord’s, Serbia’s Djokovic saved two match points before overcoming crowd favorite Federer in a first ever fifth set tie-break in a singles match at Wimbledon to claim his fifth title. It was the longest final in the history of the All England Club.
